Frequently Asked Dental Questions – Collegeville, PA
Ask Your Collegeville Dentist
Have a question about your dental care? Rather than searching the internet and getting a whole bunch of information that doesn’t apply to you, you can instead simply ask your local dental team at The Dental Spot of Collegeville so we can give you personalized answers. Below, we’ve gone ahead and responded to some of our most popular questions, but you’re always welcome to give us a call.
How often should I get a checkup and cleaning?
On average, a person should receive two checkups and cleanings each year to help them avoid common dental issues and take care of minor ones early. For someone who has been diagnosed with gum disease, they may need to visit more often.
How long will my first visit take?
From check-in to checkout, we like to schedule about an hour for each new patient, but we’re never in a rush. We’re always happy to take longer so you can ask questions and get all the information you need to feel comfortable and informed about your care options.
Should I be worried about my bleeding gums?
You may be brushing and flossing too hard, so try cleaning your teeth more gently for a few days. If the bleeding continues, then you might have early-stage gum disease, in which case you should come to see us relatively soon, as you won’t be able to take care of this problem on your own.
How long will it take to fix my tooth?
It depends on the extent of the damage, the type of restoration you need, and the health of your mouth. Typically, fixing a minor cavity or small crack with a filling only requires one appointment, but for more extensive trauma, we may recommend a crown, which can take up to two appointments to design and place.
Will you accept my dental insurance?
Probably! The Dental Spot of Collegeville is in-network with many PPO dental insurance providers, and we’re happy to go over your coverage with you ahead of your appointment. Just give us a call with your policy information nearby, and we’ll be able to discuss your potential savings.
I don’t have dental insurance. How else can I save on my care?
You can sign up for our Membership Plan, which offers many of the same benefits as traditional insurance, but for a much lower price. Plus, our plan doesn’t have common annoyances like deductibles, maximums, or waiting periods. You just sign up and can start saving immediately! Give us a call to learn more about the benefits.
